Google Chrome captures 50% of browser market share

According to new data from Statcounter Google’s own web browser Google Chrome now owns more then 50% of the current Desktop web browser market, this will be the first time since the browser originally launched back in 2008.

Internet Explorer is currently the second most popular browser with 22%, Firefox is third with 19% and Apple’s very own Safari is fourth with just 5%. As far as countries go, It seems like in China and Japan are one of the few countries where Internet Explorer is the clear winner and in the rest of the countries where Chrome isn’t the most used one, Firefox seems to be the winner.

While Chrome is clearly dominating the desktop browser market, it is struggling to accomplish the same on Mobile where Apple’s Safari is the clear winner with more then 53% market share and Chrome just 12%.
