How to download and install Windows 8.1 ISO file

Many of you that want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 might wonder How to download the ISO file and once downloaded, how do i upgrade? In order to upgrade, you will need the Windows 8.1 ISO file which can be downloaded from the official Microsoft Website  keep in mind that in order to do so you will need a product key.

  1. Once downloaded, open up the installer
  2. Click on “Install Windows 8.1” unless you have a Windows 8 product key
  3. In that case, click on “Install Windows 8” (even if you have already)
  4. When the installer asks for your product key, insert it and click continue
  5. Windows 8 will start downloading
  6. Important: Once it does so, press the Red X and close the installer
  7. Now open it up again and click “Install Windows 8.1”
  8. This time, if done correctly, it won’t ask you for the product key again.
  9. Click “Next” until Windows 8.1 is installed.

If you don’t have a product key we recommend you purchase one from the Microsoft website, or use less legal ways to download the software (which we don’t recommend). Any questions? Make sure to ask them in the comment section bellow!

      1. the question is, the name of the article…
How to download and install Windows 8.1 ISO file ?
but there are no instructions… pretty misleading way to get people to your site.

          1. my bad, I use google chrome with the addons “do not track” and “Adblock Pus” just to name a few and it apparently blocks your article.. and or text pertaining to it. I quickly copied and pasted to internet explorer and it is showing everything as it should.. sorry about that… you should look into that as most of us tech heads will use google or firefox with similar add ons.
            just a thought…
take care and thanks for the links.

          2. Hello Midas, thanks for letting us know what the issue was, we have previously had users saying that the combination of those 2 extensions are causing issues on the website, we have looked at it but are unable to find the problem. We believe that the one that is causing the issue is DoNotTack since AdBlock Plus is one i personally use frequently to browse the web and have never had issues on AmongTech with.
