The new Android version to be called Android Kit Kat

Early April Fools joke? Thats what we thought, but Sundar Pichai Senior Vice President of Chrome and Google Apps has just confirmed that Google’s new version of Android will be called Android Kit Kat. The most surprising thing about this name is the fact that they use a trademarked branded name. Kit Kat is a snack made by Nestle and has been made since 1935. Android Kit Kat will be the nick name for Android version 4.4. The image bellow is from the official Android Kit kat page

As of now, this is the closest we can get to a reason to why they chose Kit Kat, simply because its the teams “favourite” snack. As Sundar Pichai states:

I can’t wait to release the next version of the platform that is as sweet as the candy bar that’s one of our team’s favorites:)

Google has also made a official statement on Google Kit Kat

It’s our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody.

It was previously rumored that the new Android 4.4 would be called Key Lime Pie, but it seems like Android Kit Kat it is. What do you think about the name?
