4 Big changes coming to Android 5.0

With Google I/O around the corner and many people waiting for the upcoming version of Android 5.0 we thought it was time to do a little rumor-round up. Many rumors regarding Android 5.0 have leaked over the past couple of weeks but there are only 4 which are believable and we will most likely see Google reveal during the announcement of 5.0 during Google I/O

  1. ART is replacing Dalvik: Dalvik is what Google previously used in its OS to run apps, the now out dated software for each time you run an app, part of the code required for its execution is going to be translated (compiled) to machine code at that moment. This system will be replaced by ART, with ART the whole code of the app will be pre-compiled during install (once), thus removing the lag that we see when we open an app on our device. Drastically increasing the speed of your device
  2. Compatibility with wearables and other devices: With 5.0 Google will also announce Android Wear, its wearable’s operation system. Together with these 2 OS’s Google is planning on taking over the mobile (which it already has) and wearable market, to accomplish this it is crucial that the systems work together so expect a lot of new things for developers to experiment with.
  3. 64-bit, finally? Apple is currently the only company that supports 64-bit architecture. Many rumors have indicated that mayor manufacturers are making devices with 64-bit Snapdragon CPU’s which are expected to hit the market in 2015, this could mean that a 64-bit Android version is on the way and it seems very likely as Google is falling behind.
  4. A redesigned UI: Previous rumors indicate that Google is redesigning the UI of Android and is working on a project called “Hera” which is a new way Google will bridge “Chrome, Android and search” and create a “cross platform experience”. We also saw several leaks of new Android icons
