Over the last couple of weeks you might have heard of Apple Pay, Apple’s own mobile payment system. The service works on the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch using NFC (Near Field communication) technology.
Unfortunately the service doesn’t work on Android devices or Windows Phone smartphones, so what alternatives are there? One of the good things is that most flagship Android devices feature NFC which also means there are a wide variety of payment systems available on Android that are similar to Apple Pay, here are the top 3.
1. Google Wallet
Google Wallet is (without doubt) the best alternative for Apple Pay. The service works on Android devices and iOS devices. It works similar to Apple pay as it also uses NFC technology to make transactions and can be used in many of US largest retailers. It also allows you to easily make purchases online from your Android smartphone. You can read more about Google Wallet here or download the app here
The famous startup founded by Jack Dorsey, founder and CEO of Twitter is also a much used Mobile payment system. The service allows you to easily link your credit card to the app and make payments with merchants that support the service, you can also win rewards and discounts for next time you purchase a product in a Square-supported store. The only down side is that the amount of stores it is available is quiet limited compared to Apple Pay and Google Wallet. You can check out more about Square here or download the app here
While the service is probably already used by many, there are always users unaware of the fact that Paypal has a feature that makes it work very similar to Apple Pay. You can spend the money on your PayPal account by typing in your mobile phone number at PayPal checkout supported stores (¨like HomeDepot).
